The Greenwich Wire (previously 853) has been reporting on news and issues in Greenwich and south-east London since 2010. I'm proud that well over 100 people now help fund the site. I'd be honoured if you joined them and chipped in a little to help pay the bills. You can choose any amount and frequency that matches your budget.

While the traditional local media has abandoned investigative journalism, The Greenwich Wire follows decision-makers and those who influence them to get to the heart of the issues that affect our lives. Its stories have been followed up by both the legacy local press and the regional and national media.

But all this takes time and effort. Exclusives such as revealing the anti-gay sermons at a church backed by Greenwich Council take time and effort. Even run-of-the-mill tales take a couple of hours to produce - sourcing photos and double-checking documents.

There are also direct financial costs, such as site maintenance, travel to and from events and Land Registry searches.

I would be hugely grateful if you would consider supporting The Greenwich Wire with a monthly, annual or one-time contribution, meaning I can continue to work on the site and hopefully expand it to commission other people to write for it. The money will go to the company I have set up, Flyover Media CIC, which then pays me a monthly wage to cover two days on the site.

Everybody who gives some money will get occasional mails about what is happening with the site and my plans for the future.

So, if you like The Greenwich Wire, please do your bit to keep local journalism alive in Greenwich and SE London.

Many thanks,

Darryl Chamberlain, Editor
